Zypave Porous Paving
Zypave porous paving is a high performance, durable and low maintenance plastic grid used as a surface solution for grass and gravel in a SUDS compliant permeable paving system. It’s manufactured from Zyplex recycled plastic which is made from 100% UK plastic waste which might otherwise go to landfill.
Zyplex is rigorously tested and formulated for strength, durability and stability. It outperforms many traditional alternatives - it does not rot and is recyclable at the end of its product life.
Zypave porous paving blocks are versatile and easy to install, making them the first choice for a wide range of construction, leisure and agricultural applications. They can be used to create permeable pavements and pathways, permeable roadways, permeable emergency vehicle access roads, porous gravel or grassed driveways, and gravel or grassed car parking areas, and also to stabilise embankments.
The Zypave porous paving block system consists of strong, inter-locking profiled plastic paving grid blocks, which are laid onto a suitable sub-base, and can be filled with gravel or seeded with grass to provide a beautiful permeable paving finish.
Zypave porous paving complies with, and was designed in response to, modern planning regulations and environmental initiatives such as Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS), BREEAM and The Code for Sustainable Homes.

Why choose Zypave porous paving?
Environmentally responsible & sustainable
Zypave conforms to Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS), which is part of government planning policy in the UK. Zypave is made from Zyplex using 100% UK recycled plastic, and is recyclable at the end of its life. By using Zypave, you can improve the ratings of your project in accordance with BREEAM & the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Excellent for water permeation
The Zypave porous paving block system offers an 85% void in surface area, which is excellent for water permeation. It reduces the potential for clogging compared to an in situ concrete paving system.
Load bearing capability at 250-350 tonnes/m2
Generally the limiting factor for load bearing is the strength of the underlying layers. Zypave is extremely strong and supports weight well above the legal load limit on roads in the UK.
Ease and speed of installation
Zypave porous paving blocks only weigh 4.14kg/m2, making them easy and safe to handle on site. Their specially designed interlocking profiles are easy to fit and enable an optimal laying rate of 100m2 per man per hour onto a prepared base. The block dimensions are 330 x330x40mm (9 blocks per m2).
Immediate use after installation
With Zypave porous paving, traffic can use the surface immediately after installation. In situ concrete paving systems require 28 days to fully cure.
A cost effective & low maintenance solution
Zypave porous paving requires low maintenance when compared with traditional impermeable paving systems, making it a cost effective solution throughout the product life.
