Infrastructure

Infrastructure and civil engineering projects have extremely stringent requirements in terms of the performance, reliability and quality of the products they use. We have developed a range of Zyplex products precisely for these applications, including crib walls, retaining walls, rail sleepers and our porous paving system.

Zypave Porous Paving, Zyplex Recycled Plastic Retaining Wall, Zyplex Recycled Plastic Revetment

All these Zyplex products are environmentally friendly, cost effective and long lasting. They generally outperform traditional building materials such as wood, especially where strength and stability are concerned. Engineering and building professionals are using them not just for their environmental benefits but because they are often better suited to the application than other alternatives.

Made from 100% British recycled plastic, our family of blended polymers has been developed to meet the rigorous demands of the different industry sectors we serve. Each Zyplex blend is engineered and tested to ensure the highest levels of consistency and reliability and offers significant performance advantages over traditional materials such as wood, steel and concrete. The blends most suited to infrastructure and civil engineering projects are Zyplex 55 and Zyplex 06.

Ecocrib walling at Bury Transport Museum, Lancashire

Council banked on recycled plastic for new museum

Client: Bury Metropolitan Borough Council
Contractor: PC Construction
Blends: Zyplex 55

Our partners, PC Construction

Ltd, land reinforcement specialists, were employed by Bury Council Special Projects to design, supply and build an Ecocrib wall to retain an unstable embankment on the site of the Bury Transport Museum. The Council was looking for a solution which was environmentally responsible, cost effective and easy to install.

“The recycling of plastic is critical to the future waste strategy of the UK. Contrary to common perception, plastic is a versatile and reusable resource and it is great to see the emergence of new innovative businesses who are finding ways to give recycled plastics a second life rather than see potentially important raw materials buried in landfill.”
